July 31st, 2010 by EM Guide | Comments Off | Filed in Vacation

Product Description

In Cruise Confidential, Brian David Bruns spills the dirt — or in this case, the dirty water — on those romantic, fun-filled vacations at sea. His hilarious chronicle of the year he spent working for Carnival Cruise Lines takes readers down into the areas where the crew works and lives, leaving readers gasping with laughter as they’re assaulted nonstop with events that range from the absurd to the utterly bizarre. Stewards fighting over food. Cutlery allowances and other nonsensical rules. What the crew calls those onboard (no, it’s not “passengers”). And of course, the sex. An abundance of ready, willing, and able bodies eager for action on a vessel replete with nooks and crannies leads to love in some mighty strange, and seemingly impossible, places. Breezy, entertaining, and informative, Cruise Confidential is essential reading for those planning a cruise or for anyone who just needs a good laugh.

Cruise Vacation Planning Guide

July 29th, 2010 by EM Guide | Comments Off | Filed in Cruise Vacation

Do you want to take your family on a cruise vacation? If you do, make sure that the whole family is involved in the preparations. If you have kids, it would be a good idea to involve them in the planning process. Involving your kids in the planning process of any family activities is a very good way of teaching them about responsibility. The more the kids are informed and involved about any activities of the family, the more they will assume responsibilities during the preparations.

When planning for your cruise vacation, you should list all the things that you will need on your trip. Get a piece of paper and write down the things that your family will need on one column and then write down the name of the person who shall be responsible for accomplishing the task. You can assign easy task to your kids so that they will not have trouble accomplishing them. You and your spouse can take care of the more complicated stuff such as booking for your reservations and shopping for the things that you will need during your cruise vacation.

In preparing for a cruise vacation with the whole family, one of the few things that you should remember is to travel light. Tell your children that they are only allowed to bring essential things and those toys or gadgets that they will not need during your cruise vacation should stays home, if possible limit your kids to one bag only so that you will not end up carrying so must luggage. It will not do you any good to start lugging some heavy baggage on your trip especially if you have kids to think about at the same time. Do not worry about running out of clothes to wear during your cruise vacation because they have a laundry service on board. They also have this do-it-yourself laundry that will not really cost you much.

When packing clothes for a cruise vacation, you should only bring those causal attires and resort wears. Since you will be expected to make stops at some resorts along the way, you should make sure that everyone brings something that they can wear during these stops. For the girls, shorts, sundresses, slacks, blouses and swimwear would be nice. For the boys, casual clothing would do the trick. Do not forget those rubber soles shoes, which you all can wear on board the ship and some good pairs of walking shoes during your stops. You do not have to bring anything fancy unless you are planning of going to some formal evening affairs.

If you want a different kind of holiday, then a cruise vacation is what you need. What are you waiting for go make that reservation.

The Magic of Orlando Extends Beyond Disneyworld

July 28th, 2010 by EM Guide | Comments Off | Filed in Vacation

Orlando, Florida, is a popular choice for parents who want to take their kids on a short break this April. After all, Disneyworld – the world’s favourite children’s theme park – is located there and thus provides an excellent place to let your children run amok! However, next time you’re in Orlando for some family fun, try and look beyond Disneyworld as April in Orlando could hold some very interesting surprises!

One of the most high profile events in Orlando’s April Calendar is the Central Florida Fair. Running since 1912, the Central Florida Fair offers food, exhibits, music, rides and entertainment for the entire family – so if Mickey ever gets a little too much, your kids will get to enjoy something non-Disney related in Orlando. The 2007 Central Florida Fair boasts a variety of attractions, including Kenya Safari Acrobats, the Sunburst Beauty Pageant & Baby Contest (open to girls and women aged 4 to 27 years) and the Frisco Brothers Exotic Annual Exhibit & Show, which is back for a remarkable eighth year running.

If you’re looking for some active fun in Orlando this spring, why not take your kids down to the Soap Box Derby Rally. Whether you’re a first time driver or an experienced soap box racer, make sure you seize this chance! Race cars will be available to drivers at the rally free of charge; and each driver will be able to make several test runs down the track to see if the Soap Box Derby Rally floats your boat. And since the Soap Box Derby Rally is restricted to drivers aged 7 to 16, you know your kids will be safe and have fun with other children their own age.

Finally, one of Orlando’s most exciting festivals held in April is the Rajuncajun Crawfish Festival. This exciting festival has been an annual fixture in Orlando’s calendar since 1989 and brings the smells, sounds and tastes of the famous Louisiana Cajun Country to Florida. With sizzling Louisiana-style Cajun and Zydeco music, a relaxed atmosphere and first-class Louisiana cuisine, you and your family are sure to have a wonderful time at the Rajuncajun Crawfish festival! Whether it’s bluegrass, fiddle or classic rock music you love, the Rajuncajun Crawfish Festival will offer you all this and more, accompanied by a Cajun buffet that includes double dipped black bayou fried chicken, corn on the cob, shrimp head-on Louisiana style, red creamer potatoes and more besides.

If you’re planning on a family holiday to Orlando in April, why not opt for a hotel suite for a more cosy family accommodation experience. You’ll find plenty of hotels and hotel suites in Orlando at your disposal, so you and your family will be able to enjoy the magic of Orlando in peace and comfort – whether you choose to spend it in Disneyworld or not!

Finding Hot Adventure Travel Spots

July 25th, 2010 by EM Guide | Comments Off | Filed in Cruise Vacation

What does the term adventure travel mean to you? It can mean many different things to different people and for those that are uninitiated into the world of adventure travel it often involves Indiana Jones types of images. Things like Man against nature, struggling to cross a scorching desert, or a stormy sea. Possible risking their life in some far flung region of the world that is torn apart by war and strife. Or it might bring up images of crawling deep into a pitch black cave or dangling from the site of a mountain on a rope.

Do all of these images equate to adventure travel? Well, not really, some people that are into adventure travel might seek out some of these more extreme types of activities but not everyone. Adventure travel is really whatever you want it to be. It might or might not involve physical risk this is not a requirement. It might or might not mean traveling to an exotic far flung place. It might or might not cost a small fortune it really depends on you. Any time you travel somewhere, anywhere if you have a new experience that you have never had before or some type of new experience that you don’t do everyday then you have had an adventure.

Of course there are as many different types of adventure travel as there are people in the world. So often you can find something that is exciting to you and based on your own interests. For example a history buff might not be the least interested in a vacation in Las Vegas or a visit to Disney World. But he or she might be thrilled to tour the Tower of London, visit the Alamo in San Antonio, Texas, or stand at the Irish graveside of some long dead ancestor. The discovery of some previously unknown ancestors name in the archival records of a small town can be as exciting for the history lover as catching a trophy rainbow trout is to an ardent fisherman.

While most people would agree that adventure travel that involves activities like sky diving, mountain climbing, kayaking the rapids or caving is an exciting adventure indeed. But adventure travel can also include a leisurely trip on the Mississippi River in a paddle wheeler, a saunter across the English landscape in search of a certain species of bird, a tour of the wineries of southern France, or a shell-collecting outing on an out-of-the-way Caribbean beach.

Adventure travel does not have to be to a far away place. You do not have to go by plane, train or bus to experience some adventure travel. There are many opportunities well within driving distance of your house. They are not as well revealed as major sites or operations, so people have to look for them. They can include small local museums, houses of special interest (the birthplace of a famous person), small sanctuaries for wildlife and flora, restored buildings or even communities dating back to historic times, and so on. Even if one does not own a car, there are sometimes local bus tours to this site, or excursions organized by social groups.

Sure adventure travel might take you to that far flung place on a crazy intense adventure and test of wills but it can just as easily be a trip to somewhere close to your home and local. Adventure travel is wherever you can find it and on whatever scale you are ready for.
